pretty hate machine 2010 vs 1989

March 21, 2011

I have been a devoted reader of Leviathant’s Nine Inch Nails Hotline for… uh, about a decade now… so it’s definitely cool and an honour to have some of my writing featured on that page. It goes pretty deeply into all the nitty-gritty technical differences between NIN’s first album Pretty Hate Machine and the re-mastered version that came out last year. Here’s a direct link to it!

You forgot to mention the differences between the original Get Down Make Love, and the new 2010 remaster. The Queen samples are gone!

I didn’t notice any differences, at least not beyond what also applies to the rest of the album. I’m not sure what you mean, actually, as I can still hear the Queen samples at the end very prominently — the new CD ends as the old B-side version did, with the sound of someone rewinding through News of the World until the last bar of “We Will Rock You” — perhaps you downloaded a faulty MP3 version that cuts off early?
